Lucille:

May 14 - Wednesday - This morning we awoke at 3 am to the sound of rain, thunder, and hail.  I thought, "What in the world are we going to do today?"  By the time we got ready to leave the hotel around 9, the storm had passed through and we didn't have any rain the rest of the day.  I took Eric to the Oklahoma City airport and I was pretty nervous for a while after I dropped off Eric when I thought I was not on the highway I wanted.  It turned out I was exactly where I wanted to be but the distances were farther than I thought and the highway signs infrequent.  By the time I finally got out of the city I wasn't in the mood to face any more traffic for a while so I didn't explore Norman as I had thought of doing.  Most of Tom's trip today was going to be on Highway 9 so I positioned myself near a Texaco station where I figured he had not yet passed and did some reading.  Sure enough, eventually Tom came by and we had a bite to eat.  I then drove on to our planned meeting place, Taco Mayo in Tecumseh and did some more reading while waiting for Tom again.  He arrived a little before 4, we put his bike on the bike rack and drove to Tulsa to see Maureen and her family.  It was great seeing all of them, and we really enjoyed Maureen's delicious meal.  We are staying here at Maureen's beautiful home in Tulsa tonight.

TOM:

Day 21 – Chickasha, OK to Tecumseh, OK 67 miles. This route was rolling hills from 1150 feet to 1100 feet with many ups and downs due to the rolling hills.  There was also some wind factor due to the southeast wind.  I covered the distance in 5 hours and 49 minutes with an average speed of 11.6 mph.  The land today continued to have more trees and more water.  I left Chickasha by myself since Eric was starting his trip back to California and work.  I missed having Eric with me a lot. I met Lucille at Tecumseh and loaded the bike for a trip to Tulsa to visit Lucille's niece Maureen, her husband Dave and their family, Danny, David, Nicole and Sara. We had a good visit with them and a great home cooked dinner.  The weather was overcast most of the day following the hail and thunder storm during the night.  This was a long day but another good day.
